For many years I have seen Glow Day posts from teachers on Instagram showing off what they did during their day under the cover of black lights.  To be honest, I never thought this type of thing was for me.  But this year, in lieu of Halloween activities, I thought we could do a fun Glow Day to keep things festive, yet not focused on the holiday.   Logistics When I was researching how to do this all, I had LOTS of logistics questions, so I am going to start this post by answering them.   Here are all of the materials I bought (or borrowed) to pull this day off. Black Lights - this was the biggest stressor for me.  How many would I need?  What kind would work?  I found these LED strip lights (that are popular on TikTok with the teens) and figured they would work just fine.  And they did.  I bought 4 sets of 2 strips for my room.  My classroom is fairly large, but has low drop ceilings so I was able to reach them to adhere the strips. ......
Yesterday was quite the day for us all in Teacherland, wasn't it?  Halloween AND Friday (which I guess is better than Halloween and a Monday ;))  Anyway, I thought for my Currently with Farley , I would share some pictures of yesterday's festivities to inspire you for next year. We started the day with Dry Ice experiments.  I promise, we were all very safe with gloves and eye goggles. At school we have a pumpkin contest.  Here is the pumpkin that my daughter and I entered.  It is our school mascot.  I think I love it :) A classroom parent came in to teach the students how to make this fun little spider craft.  It was CRAZY EASY.  Four pipe cleaners (cut in half) and......
Halloween is just around the corner and, if you are anything like me, you are searching and searching for the perfect costume to wear to school.  I mean, it has to be something comfortable, relatively affordable (read: cheap) and easy to put on after lunch before the parade.  So I asked my friends, both in my network of teacher friends and on Facebook in our Teaching in Room 6 community, if they had any ideas for costumes that fit that bill, and here is what they came up with. Now, if you teach preschool, I KNOW you know who this is.  Or if you have toddlers around the house these costumes might ring a bell too.  Well, this particular year, each of us had toddlers hogging up the TV, so we dressed up like DJ Lance and the gang.  Can you spot me? What a wonderful peacock Heather, from Teach It Today makes!  Just a tutu and some feathers created this easy costume. This middle school team from Oregon decided to go as the Duck Dynasty gang last......
