Blog O'Fun!

Top of the morning to you! (or more likely evening....since I know that is when I do *my* blog hopping!)  Welcome to Day 13 of the Blog Hop.  Welcome to everyone from Sub Hub...thank you for hopping over!

Today, I have a math project for you to use on St. Patrick's Day.  Since my students have to work with multiple operations, I enjoy creating secret codes for them to use, solving various problems as they go (see my previous post about it)  In celebration of St. Patty's Day, I have created a specially themed one just for you!

It is fairly simple.  The students need to solve the expressions.  The answers are then the value for each letter.  The students then look at the coded phrase and fill in the corresponding letters to match the numbers.  If they have solved the expressions correctly, a St. Patrick's Day saying will appear!

For easy expressions, involving only addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, click here.

For harder expressions, involving addition and subtraction of positive and negative numbers, click here.

The secret message for both is:  I hope you find your pot of gold on St. Patrick's Day.

Tomorrow, hop on over to Mrs. Miner's Kindergarten Monkey Business and Kindergarten Lifestyle for some more St. Patrick's Day Freebie fun!

*  The font used on the freebie is DJ Inkers -- DJ Shamrock!  So cute!

  4. I LOVE THIS! We had a field trip for a majority of the day yesterday, but I had about 20 minutes with my 7th grade math class right before we left (hello, crazies). I printed this for them to work on and review integer operations and they LOVED IT!!!!! Thanks again for an awesome lesson!
