Made It Monday: A little Bathtub Organization

OK....since it is summer, I am taking a bit of time to work on our new house.  I thought that since Tara at 4th Grade Frolics has her Monday Made It linky, I would share one of the teeny little projects I have tackled here with you all.  I am sure there are classroom applications for it... ;)
A few weeks ago, my friend Shannon posted on Facebook how she organized her bathtub with the kids' toys and stuff so that it wasn't a super huge mess....sort of how this looks right now:

With her inspiration (that she said she got from Pinterest...I have no idea where so I can't credit the original), I set about making my own organization station.  And now, my kiddos' tub looks like this:
DIY, home improvement
The finished product!!  So much better.

How did I do it?  It was SOOOOO simple.  I purchased a shower curtain rod, shower curtain holders, and some waterproof baskets from the shower aisle at Target.

Putting the shower curtain rods through the place where the suction cups used to be on the baskets (I took the suction cups off), I was able to make little hooks instead.

Then, I twisted the rod until it was taught on the tub, hung the baskets, filled them with the shower stuff, and viola!, I have nice, neat, organized space that keeps it somewhat presentable :)  One little thing I did notice is that I needed to push the rod all the way down in the tub.  Otherwise, the weight of the shampoos, et al., kept making it slip down anyway.  But it is really perfect for the kids' tub.

What have you made lately?  Anything home improvement related??  I am in need of some more organizational tips!

  2. I've seen this on Pinterest, and thought about doing that in our tub. I HATE the collection of toys. Right now I just have a plastic basket sitting outside of the tub with all of the toys in in. Not pretty to look at. I would love to be able to just close the curtain and forget about that craziness. Good idea!

  3. What a great idea!! I have a bag that is supposed to stick to the tub to put toys in but it never stays on the tub. I might have to do this. Thanks!!

  5. I did something similar, also from an idea on Pinterest! But, it was for my daughter's stuff to be ABOVE where my sons have their toys and so her bottles weren't sitting on the edge but she could still reach them. I like how you did the clear baskets for the toys. I need to do that for my boys!

  10. So smart! My 8 year old claims he's too grown up for bath toys, but once he's in there and I put his 2 giant cups full of Playmobil knights on the edge of the tub, I always hear him playing with them. This would be much less annoying than the cups.
