First 12 in the last of 2012

My friend Lorraine at Fabulous 4th Grade Froggies is having a neat little linky that I thought I would join.  :)  She is asking us all to look at the first 12 posts we made in 2012, since most of those posts will probably be applicable to now anyway!  Since I had just started my blog then, I am thinking there is going to be a lot of randomness.  You see, when I first started, I just went on a posting spree!  December, my first month of blogging, had a bazillion posts...I totally broke the law of blog posting then!  January was pretty much a repeat.  So without further ado, here are my first 12 of 2012.

1/1/12  Student Book Recommendations

This was my first post of the new year, and I shared with you how I get my students to recommend books to other students.  They fill out these cute little forms I made on Vista Print and they post them on our recommendation board.

1/2/12  Head Problems

Ahh.....EXACTLY what I am doing now in my room!  I told you about how I do Head Problems in my room to get the kids thinking during math.  I don't do these daily, but I do do them at least once a week.  I really love these things.  (and they go great with my Two Ways Problems  ;)  hee hee)

1/3/12  Keeping Track of Behavior

I showed you how I use mailing labels to keep track of the "card system" colors...so that the writing in in the students' own hand.  I have since done away with the card system in my current class, in favor of the classroom economy exclusively, but I used this system for years.

1/3/12  Go To Book Linky Party

This was my first linky party!  I asked fellow bloggers to write about their "Go To" Professional book.  There are quite a few links here....and a great deal of wonderful professional books.  In case you were wondering, my favorite book EVER is Harry Wong's The First Days of School.

1/4/12  Test Prep 180:  State Standards

This was my first Test Prep 180 post.  (I wrote quite a few!)  I shared the form I use to quickly track if I have taught all of my state standards and how many times I have taught it.  It is editable, so you can input your own state standards in there...unless you are CA, and it is done for you ;)

1/5/12  My first Blogging Award!!

Here I wrote about my first award, and a little about myself.  If you are interested, go ahead and read ;)

1/5/12  Breaking Down Quizzes

A MUST have form.  I use this weekly to help me figure out what my students are absorbing and what needs to be retaught.  Again...this is a MUST HAVE!

1/7/12  Strengths and Weaknesses

A favorite bulletin board of mine for the beginning of the year.  Also great for when we get back in the new year!

1/7/12  Showing Evidence on Thinking Maps

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Thinking Maps and this was my first real post about them.  Here is how I use them to have the kids show evidence.

1/9/12   Morning Greeting

My first VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!  Here is my morning greeting.

1/10/12  Reading Olympics -- The Projects

Here is where I showed the projects for the Reading Olympics for the first time.  Great student examples...and the first introduction I gave to the program.

1/11/12  Columbian Exchange

This post shows up in my searches almost daily.  I guess Columbus is a popular topic to teach about!  There are Thinking Maps, Brain Pop and Columbus in this one!  ;)

So there you have it.  My first 12 posts of 2012.  Yeah...didn't even make it to the 12th of the month.  I told you, I posted A LOT back then!!

Have you seen any of these before?  If not, I am glad to have had the chance to share them with you.  Some of them really are my favorite things I do in my classroom and I am glad they are getting a "rebirth" so to speak.  Here's to another great year of blogging!
